The Story Behind the Brand

I started Mine Like a Woman because I was tired of leaving parts of myself at home, and I unapologetically love mining.

After 15 years supporting the industry through marketing and brand strategy, I learned something important: authenticity delivers connection. This project is deeply personal. Every design reflects my mission to create space for mining women and allies to lead with confidence and build lasting legacies.

We are pro-mining. We believe in the transformation mining can deliver.

Our aesthetic is a blend of Industrial Romance, Dusty Defiance, and Tour-Tee Power. It's inspired by neo-traditional tattoo culture that includes bold imagery with meaning, including birds for freedom, flowers for strength, and tools for labour with pride. We draw from neo-traditional tattoo culture and 70s rock shirt energy.  We add pickaxes as a nod to mining's heritage and to remind us of how far we've come.

The music that inspired the '70s inspires me. Stevie Nicks is my fairy godmother.

We exist because generic diversity initiatives fail when they lack industry credibility. When we speak about our role in society, we lack the practical tools to open conversations. We bridge the credibility gap. Cultural innovation and societal acceptance are delivered through a brand that acknowledges the past while reclaiming mining culture for diverse people into the future.

Mine Like a Woman is my love letter to mining and to everyone who believes we can shape a stronger, more inclusive future together. Mine Like a Woman is a movement for everyone who knows the potential of mining and wants to see us thrive.

We create uniforms for the movement. Join us. Wear your story.

We mine together, We rise together.

The Eye Behind The Originals

Phalicitee "Pinky" Thomas documents proof. As a Compliance Coordinator at Resolution Copper, she knows mining from the inside. For The Originals collection, her lens captured the quiet moments before shift change, the hands that have learned their tools, the faces that carry both heritage and hope.

Arizona Roots, Mining Reality

Based in Arizona, Pinky lives where copper built communities and desert shapes character. When she photographs mining professionals, she's capturing colleagues whose work she understands because she shows up to that work too.

Why do you use skulls when mining is so focused on safety?

Throughout history and across cultures, skulls hold powerful and symbolic importance beyond their surface associations.

In neo-traditional tattoo culture, skulls echo the motto "memento mori" - "remember you must die" as a reminder to live fully. They symbolize survival, toughness, and fearlessness. In Tibetan Buddhism, skulls serve as a reminder that life is impermanent and that what evokes fear can be transformed into wisdom.

Celtic traditions viewed skulls as sacred houses of the soul, with eyes and mouth serving as portals to knowledge and insight. Aztec history portrays skulls as symbols of life, regeneration, and the cyclical nature of creation.

We mine memory, identity, and possibility.
We reclaim space that was never built for us.
